Individual Counseling usually occurs weekly, yet each person is different and often twice a week is not uncommon in the initial stages of therapy. Some clients will request bi-weekly appointments because of scheduling or specific needs outlined by the therapist and client. You and I will establish the focus of therapy at the initial session. A treatment plan is always recommended because it help create concrete goals for your therapy time. This treatment plan is the result of a therapist and clients collaboration and is usually established by the third week of therapy. There is initial paperwork required during the first session. This paperwork is to inform you of the benefits and risks of therapy and to educate you on patient/HIPPA rights. Key Benefits of Individual Counseling
Areas of FocusSome areas of growth commonly addressed in individual counseling are listed here, but remember that you are the best expert on your issues and the most effective therapy is a collaborative process. Individual DiscoveryIncrease Self-Awareness through therapeutic exploration and establish self-esteem through collaborative growth exercises. Systematic changesYou function within a system such as work or family and understanding how you fit into this system (or don't fit in) is an important step to finding your internal guide for healthy interaction. Health and WellbeingYour emotional and interpersonal health can effect your physical health. When you are under constant stress or experiencing intense emotions, your body establishes defense mechanisms that can rob you of energy and leave you feeling physically sick. Therapy can help you find balance.
