Group therapy can be an important tool during individual work because it provides a social context for work being done during individual sessions and the group offers support during challenging times. Some clients choose to go to support groups or self-help groups, but these are different than therapeutic groups because they are not led by a licensed counselor. Group therapy with Discovery Counseling is led by a licensed counselor and can address various topics. Groups can be "closed" where the group meet for just a few sessions or "open" groups, which meet numerous times until the group agrees to close. Groups can be beneficial for almost everyone.
