Your family, your partner, and/or various loved ones play an important role in the counseling process.  I find this part of the therapeutic process very important and we may even refer you to another therapist to work on the family issues while you continue to focus on your individual work in our individual sessions.  Family counseling and/or couples counseling with Sara is usually an extension of your individual work.  Often clients will get to a point in their work when family or loved ones can be included in the process of discovery and/or change.

Areas of Focus

Family Sculptures and Experiential Therapies
Being active during family work can help families express the pattern of interaction within the family unit on a continuous basis. These activities can help the entire family see what is working for the family structure and also see the things that may not be working so well.
Multifamily group opportunities
Learning by working with other families provides an opportunity to discover that you are not alone in you difficulties and triumphs.
Skills training for families
Often, learning a few new skills to communicate or interact more effectively can make all the difference in having more enjoyable/ healthy time together.
